Richtlinien für Autor/innen

1. There is no minimum or maximum length for article submissions; rather, we encourage authors to scale their submissions as necessary to concisely communicate their contribution.
   
   
2. Manuscripts are submitted through the OJS interface on Lex Orandi’s website.
   
   
3. A manuscript submitted for consideration should be the original research of the author(s).
• A manuscript cannot be under simultaneous consideration elsewhere, whether in an abridged or extended form.
• If a manuscript has already been published elsewhere in the same or another form, the author(s) should correspond beforehand with the Editor-in-Chief to determine the suitability of their manuscript for Lex Orandi.
  
  
4. A manuscript must be prepared for double-blind peer review. That is, no identifying information about the author(s) may be included.
• References to name and institution should be removed, also including (but not limited to) such phrasing in the text or footnotes as “for more information, see my article…”
• References to the name(s) or institution(s) of the author(s) should also be removed from the metadata of the submitted file.
  
  
5. Manuscripts should be typed in a clearly-legible font (e.g., Times New Roman), font size 12. Citations should be prepared with footnotes, not endnotes, in font size 10. Lex Orandi insists on no word- or character-limits. For other style considerations, see “Style” below. 
   
   
6. Manuscripts may be submitted in any language. If a manuscript is not written in English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish, some or all of the following may apply:
• The author(s) may be asked to help secure copy-editing resources for their article.
• In the interest of accessibility for a diverse readership, the author(s) may also be asked to help secure a translation of their work (usually but not necessarily in English).
• A translation may be necessary for the process of peer review. A testimony from an independent expert may be necessary to ascertain the correspondence between the translation and the original.
  
  
7. Upon submission, the Editor-in-Chief will evaluate each manuscript as to its fitness for peer review. If a manuscript is deemed fit for peer review, the author(s) will be notified by email that their manuscript has been sent to an editor for the process of peer review. Once the peer review process is complete, the author(s) will be notified by the editor that the article has been:
   • Accepted;
   • If the manuscript is Accepted, the process of double-blind peer-review has judged the manuscript to be of sufficient scholarly rigor and originality to mark an important contribution to the field.
   • Once an article has been Accepted, the author(s) will correspond with the Managing Editor to implement the edits suggested by the peer review as well as any copy-editing needs.
   • Revisions required;
   • If the article has required revisions, the manuscript has been deemed publishable, but certain changes are mandated to ensure the article’s rigor and originality.
   • These conditions may take the form of structural and/or conceptual change, or may entail the rectification of deficiencies in the research.
   • A deadline for revisions will be specified, and the Editor and Managing Editor will correspond with the author(s) to assist in the process of revisions. At the end of that process, they will authorize the article’s publication without further review.
   • Resubmit for review;
   • If the article is marked “resubmit for review,” the author(s) are requested to make major modifications in accordance with peer review and submit a revised manuscript to Lex Orandi for a new round of peer review.
   • Resubmit elsewhere;
   • If the article is marked “resubmit elsewhere,” the Editor or peer reviewers have identified another venue that may be a better fit for the article. This outcome is most likely when the article makes a significant scholarly contribution but does not fit Lex Orandi’s focus.
   • Rejected.
     1. is not sufficiently academically rigorous or original for publication; or 
     2. evidences serious deficiencies in the research.
   • If the manuscript is Rejected, the editorial board of Lex Orandi has determined that it either
   • A Rejected manuscript may be resubmitted for consideration after revisions.
   • If a manuscript is Rejected, the Editor-in-Chief or Editor may communicate to the author(s) some changes that might improve the quality of the manuscript. However, the revised manuscript will still be subjected to a full peer review and a new editorial decision.
